Holiday Inn / Cardiff Centre

SPV have recently completed the extensive external refurbishment project at The Holiday Inn Hotel, Cardiff Centre.

The project involved the erection of scaffolding to all elevations to carry out the works, the strip out of all asbestos materials, the overcladding of the entire building, the installation of new windows, rendering to the front elevation, groundworks to the entrance of the Hotel and the supplying and installing of a striking rear screen and an eye catching front entrance canopy.

Piz insulated stone cladding panels were used as these panels were approved by the Local Council to ensure the building remained in keeping with its fabulous surroundings in the City centre such as Cardiff Castle.

Marshall Brown aluminum Windows and Doors were installed to all elevations, new glazing was installed to the Bar and Restaurant and new curtain walling was also installed to the front entrance of the Hotel and Conference area.

The new purpose made structural steelwork entrance canopy includes glazing panels to the covering and all associated lighting which together create a dramatic and striking entrance to the Hotel.

SPV worked closely with the Hotel to ensure that it remained in operation throughout the duration of the 12 month contract.

SPV also worked closely with the Project Mangers, Robertson Associates to ensure that the project was delivered to the Client, Realstar, within budget and to the highest standard. The project was also completed to programme despite the inclement weather conditions experienced throughout the works.

The project has thoroughly transformed a tired looking building into a new, contemporary, modern Hotel which not only stands out in the town centre but also remains in keeping with the historic architecture prominent in Cardiff City Centre.
