Services: Road Carpet

SPV specialize in the supply and installation of the specialist Road Carpet Surfacing product.

Road carpet is a permanent, quick and trouble free solution for all your surfacing and trafficking needs.

It is a non slip, waterproof material which has a multitude of applications and is available in a range of colours.

It can be utilised as a surfacing material for areas such as car parks, walkways and bridges and comes in a variety of grades.

It is also ideal for smoking areas as the membrane is not affected by cigarettes and offers excellent wear against chemicals and the product is also ideal for designating walkways over roof areas.

Road Carpet copes easily with movement by expanding & contracting without cracking like other materials and is therefore highly resistant to rupture, cold & heat.

Works can be carried out with no interference to the surrounding environment.

Road Carpet is already the preferred choice on the continent for a multitude of applications from footpaths and roads to car parks and bridges. Road Carpet is now available in the UK exclusively through SPV.

The following case studies document a number of Road Carpet projects which SPV have
recently completed.

Road Carpet projects:

Mecca bingo Club, Oldham

SPV carried out the surfacing works to supply and lay Road Carpet grade MR2 to the car park area over the Mecca Bingo Club, Oldham. Rank Group Gaming Division approached SPV to provide a solution to the problem of continual water ingress coming through the existing asphalt paving car park which was situated above the Mecca Bingo Club. SPV supplied and laid Road Carpet grade MR2 over the whole car park area which not only provided an anti slip, aesthetically pleasing surface but also provided a waterproofing solution for the roof deck car park.

Private Company, St Hellier , Jersey

SPV were called in to assist the client with their worn and ineffective waterproofing on a four storey building located in the heart of St Helier. A flexible yet durable surface was needed by the Client to refurbish this project as the roof area was to be once again used to provide valuable car parking space. SPV firstly repaired any defects in the existing mastic asphalt surface, then applied High Bond primer and Modified HighPerformance Underlay. The system was completed with an application of MR2 Road carpet to provide a robust surface.

Q Park Car Park, Taunton

SPV supplied and laid Road Carpet grade MR2 to the entranceway and ramps at the Vollack new build car park at Musgrove Hospital, Taunton. Road Carpet was the ideal product for use on the entrance areas and ramps as it is extremely hard wearing and it is resistant to oil and petrol spillages and therefore maintains its anti-slip surface where any spillages may occur.

Stade de France, Paris

SPV have recently completed the re-surfacing of the large walkway ramp leading to the Stade de France, Paris. The Green surface was specially manufactured to cope with excessive foot traffic and to allow for expansion of the bridge, not only for weather conditions but for point loads (there could be up to 3000 people walking on the bridge at any one time). It was specified as the ideal surfacing material for this extremely large, very busy access ramp leading towards the stadium due to its non-slip, durable, waterproof and aesthetically pleasing finish. The existing epoxy coating to the bridge was cracking and flaking, becoming detached in certain areas and was stuck solid in others. Due to the cracking and flaking water was becoming trapped in between the bridge deck and the coating causing the bridge deck to rust. The contract was carried out over a period of four weeks with the work crew being flown home for weekends. The bridge remained operational throughout the contract which was completed on time and within budget. Since the completion of the Stade de France project SPV has been approached to look at two other bridges in the local area. One a metal turntable bridge for vehicular traffic over a canal, the other being a wooden slated bridge which leads to a nearby train station.
