After much deliberation from our panel of more than 60 judges, Construction news have today announced the shortlist for the 2020Construction News Specialists Awards.
Now in their 16th year, the Specialists Awards are the only national awards recognising the outstanding achievements of specialist contractors, and that the maximum integrity face-to-face judging process highlights the very best inspirational businesses and projects.

To decide the winners, all finalists will attend face-to-face judging by our panel of more than 60 judges, made up from the UK’s largest construction firms and the leaders of the country’s major projects, including:
The Construction News Specialists Awards ensures that whatever size or specialism there is an appropriate avenue to showcase the achievements of specialist contractors.
Construction News editor Lem Bingley said:
“The UK construction sector is a significant pillar of the national economy and it rests on the unique skills of specialist contractors to deliver at every stage, from demolition to topping off. Our shortlisted organisations demonstrate the breadth of capabilities offered by today’s specialists as well as their ability to innovate and diversify, offer additional value to their clients.
Finalists will now progress to our face-to-face judging stage, where they will have the chance to impress some the UK’s biggest and most significant contractors and developers.”
The winners will be announced on 25 March 2020 at a glamorous ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London where over 1,000 of the industry elite will meet for a night of entertainment, celebration and networking.

In March 2017 SPV were crowned Roofing Specialist of the Year at the 2017 Construction News Specialists Awards.
The Construction News Specialists Awards brought together over 750 of the UK’s leading specialist contractors for a glittering evening of celebration, recognition and networking.
After a face to face review by a panel of over 60 expert judges, SPV Group won in recognition of their real passion for customer service. The judges commented that SPV took impressive steps forward in quality while retaining a strong family feel and a real commitment to direct employment and their community.

SPV have been shortlisted as a finalist in the Reinforced Bitumen Membranes Category of the NFRC UK Roofing Awards 2017.
Our project at Four Seasons Shopping Centre, Mansfield was selected due to the degree of difficulty, workmanship, problem solving, contribution to the built environment, environmental qualities and the aesthetics of the build.
SPV are through to the finals of the 2017 Express and Star Business Awards in the category of Community Champions
SPV will present to a panel of judges from Jaguar Landrover and Senior Management from The Express and Star to demonstrate why we should be crowned winners!
The winners will be announced at Presentation evening at Wolverhampton racecourse on the 8th June 2017.

SPV were selected as Gold Winners for the NFRC Health and Safety in Roofing Awards 2017
This annual Safety in Roofing Award recognises NFRC member businesses that are committed to Health and Safety.

SPV Group Commercial Director Kate Whatley was shortlisted in the Business Leader of the Year Category of the recent Women in Construction Awards. Now in its 11th year, the Women in Construction Awards provides a showcase for the brightest and the best female achievers in the construction and built environment industries.
Kate commented “It is a great honour to have been shortlisted for such a prestigious award and just to be nominated is a great achievement. It’s great to see the roofing Industry represented within this National Awards ceremony encompassing the whole of the Construction Industry. “
SPV Group have been shortlisted in The West Midlands Celebrating Construction Awards 2017 in the Digital Construction Initiative of the Year Category for The SPV Intranet.
This category rewards organisations, projects or initiatives that have adopted, advanced and achieved excellence in Digital Construction.
The SPV Intranet was developed in conjunction with Carr Design Ltd and was selected as a finalist in this category as it demonstrates excellent integrated and collaborative working and sharing of information through common data environments and system integration.
SPV Group, the Walsall based refurbishment specialists have been Awarded as the 2016 Winner of Family Business of the Year at The Express and Star Business Awards.
Furthermore we are delighted to have received a special commendation in the category of Community Champions.
The event, one of the highlights of the West Midlands' business calendar shined a spotlight on the businesses that represent that whole range of commercial activity across our region.
The judges commented the following with regards to SPV Group;

It was an emotional win for the company with Finance Director Kate Whatley commenting;

SPV were delighted to be shortlisted in The Inaugural Construction Investing in Talent Awards 2016 and attended their glittering Awards ceremony at Grosvenor House Hotel London on the 8th December where the Winners were announced.
The Construction Investing in Talent Awards are about rewarding individuals and teams who work so hard to attract and retain the best talent.
Rewarding company initiatives, teams and individuals within construction and engineering, these awards demonstrated how effective HR and recruitment strategies build winning teams, create happy workplaces and benefit the bottom line.
