They offer premium levels of support and value for momey through the provision of skills and advice in project management, design, fabrication and mainteanance – together with the supply of crew for large scale music festivals, tours, ceremonies, sporting events, theatrical production and corporate events.
They are at the forefront of lighting technology and innovation and offer their Clients the most relevant, state of the art, lightining solution available to meet their requirements. Consequently, no exspense is spared in the acquisition of the latest lighting equipment
The building experienced a fire in the early hours of April 2015 which caused extensive damage to the warehouse and offices and as a result, the building had to be demolished.
This was devastating for Neg earth but they quickly secured temporary premises and re stocked equipment.
The subsequent building works were not completed to their satisfaction and thet cladding system, was not installed properly and was not correctly aligned.
Following a legal battle with the original Main Contractor and cladding sub contractor, SPV were procured in early 2019 to carry out the refurbishment of the building to the correct standards.
SPV’s remit was to remove the existing insulation which was not fit for purpose and then remove the existing grid system which was not correctly aligned.
SPV then removed the existing liner panel and sealed and fixed all existing joints.
SPV then installed new insulation followed by a new Architectural profiles cladding system as specified by the Client.
This was a challenging project for a number of reasons.
The building remained in occupation throughout the due to the value of the equipment within the warehouse which totals over £100 million, ths project has to be completed in sections and security was of upmost importance.
The company turns over is £20-30 million per week and it was imperative that no disrution to the business was caused throughout the duration of the works. SPV fully delivered on this with no complaints received over the 9 months we were on site.
As the location is Central London- space at the site was limited and with a service road adjacent to the buiding, we had tyo put in place road closures and undertaken night works in ordr to cause minimal disruption to both the building and the residents.
The other challenge was the number of parties involved in the job. The Client was very sceptical of the building works following on from the previous poor standard of works and there were also a number of other parties involved including a surveyor, an expert witness/ consultant, the manufacturers, the original main Contractor as well as managing agents. It was imperative that the SPV site foreman diplomatically managed the scheme to keep all parties happy.
SPV had 2 apprentices on site for the duration of the job who had a fantastic experience of a large scale building project. Both had completed their NVQ level 2 in cladding occupations whilst undertaking the project and whilst being assesed on site their assesor commented how good their standard of workmanship was.
This was the first job the SPV Site foreman following completion of the SMSTS course had ran and his excellent work and attention to detail has ensured that he has been promoted to senior site manager for SPV for future projects.
There were no accidents throughout the duration of the project and health and safety was paramount throughout
The project completed ahead of schedule and all as per agreed budgets.
